Report Definitions

The areas of assessment incorporated into this report are as follows:

FCI Report

The Facility Condition Inventory Report summarizes deficiencies identified by the assessment team for a particular building. Only building systems and sub-components that were identified as “deficient” on the FCI Inspection Forms are highlighted in this report. Cost allowances for each deficiency, as well as the building deficiencies in total, are benchmarked against the building replacement value for the purpose of understanding level of need and setting priorities between multiple facilities. Facility managers who wish to undertake specific improvements should use the FCI reports to identify and prioritize specific projects, and then implement a more detailed, project-specific cost estimate to ensure project budgets or requests for funding are reasonable and accurate at the anticipated time of construction.

FCI Inspection Form

These are the completed facility condition assessment survey forms completed by assessment teams after touring a building. Deficiencies indicated by these survey forms are used to generate the FCI Reports, also available through this website for each building. These survey forms contain information collected about the presence or absence of certain building systems whether they are deficient or not; information that may be valuable in future facility assessments, evaluations, and planning.

ESC Survey

An Educational Characteristics Survey was completed at each school to record a number of general characteristics of the educational facilities and campus at that location. The information provided by this survey was not required as part of the legislation but was easy to collect while visiting the site and may have value as a local and regional resource for use in future planning as renovations, additions, new construction, developing cooperatives or consolidation is considered.

Technology Survey

A Technology Infrastructure Survey was completed at each school to record the information technology (IT) infrastructure characteristics of the educational facilities at that location. The information provided by this survey was not required as part of the legislation but was easy to collect while visiting the site. Technology Infrastructure categories targeted in this survey include: Cable Plant, Telephone Service, Internet Access, and Classroom Video. The information provided may be used to establish baselines and trends for use as a local and regional resource for use in future planning.
